The Workers' Compensation Board of BC (WCB) recognizes some first aid courses or certifications from outside of British Columbia. It is your responsibility to ensure the first aid certifications included in your application are recognized by the British Columbia Workers Compensation Board.
If you are not from British Columbia, there may be courses available to you locally which have the same title but they are not considered the same. This has made it more difficult for individuals applying from outside B.C. The WCB does not spend the time analyzing them to see which tickets are equivalent.
Interested candidates must either come to B.C. and take first aid courses on their own time and expense, or possess a recognized equivalent certification in order to meet the requirements for the application process. Doing so offers no assurance that you will be successful in the very competitive hiring process.
