The Prince George Fire Centre has a number of human resources they use throughout the fire season to suppress forest fires. Firetack,
Rapattack and
Parattack
are firefighters who provide initial attack on fires. Firetack is used when a fire is accessible by road and helicopter. Rappattack members are deployed when a fire is not accessible by vehicle or helicopter, when the fire is not within reasonable walking distance and when a fire is burning on steep mountainous terrain. The Parattack crew is a highly mobile resource, which can be rapidly located throughout the region to assist with fire control operations. Three Unit Crews are located in the Prince George Fire Centre and are primarily used on expanded attack fires. The 20-member crew can work on a fireline without needing camp or outside supplies for up to 72 hours. They are mobile and have no geographic limitations on fire assignments.
